Hello! Wow, I've been so busy that I nearly even forgot to create for this challenge (thinking I had another week up my sleeve..). I whipped up a couple of cards and really wanted to make more but time wasn't on my side.
Horoscopes is the theme for the new challenge at LIM. There is a WIDE variety of ideas that you can use for this theme. Birthdays, Stars, Star Signs, Astronomy, Tarot Cards, Constellations, etc.
Due to my time restraints (I'm usually way ahead with my DT makes), I guess I went the easy way out, lol. I went with Star Signs - the animals that represent them.
Card #1
If you have never given Brushos (or other powdered pigments) a whirl on glossy card, please do yourself a favour and give it a try. It is a really great way to use the powders and the results are so different each time you do it.
I simply sprinkled a little yellow brusho and misted it carefully with water due to wanting to keep the colour to a specific area. I stamped my Lion (Star Sign: Leo) and sentiment using my MISTI. Be very careful when stamping as the ink stamp may stick to the paper making it hard to get a crisp image.
If you would like to see how I use Brushos with Glossy card, check out my youtube tutorial. It was one of my first videos, so please be kind :)
Card #2
One of the simplest cards you will ever find but it's the style I love the best :)
My star sign is Cancer so I had to make this little crab the star on this birthday card.

Two amazing cards, Kylie! I especially love the way you managed to keep the brushos on such a small area -I can see myself doing this and the brushos spreading all over the place lol! Great look. The crab card is CAS perfection and he really pops from the all white background. xxx
ReplyDeleteYour cards are beautiful Kylie. Love that lion with the brusho colour. Fab theme. Hugz

ReplyDeleteWow! Super control with those brushos and such a vibrant colour too. Perfect for the lion image (you've inspired me to try mine with glossy card now). Your little crab is CAS to the max! He may be small but it makes a huge impact. Two really inspiring makes and in such a short time to . Bravo!

Two fabulous cards, Kylie ! I'm especially in love with this adorable red little crab over all this wide blank space : this is the perfect example of CAS design ! I didn't even know that we could use Brushos over glossy card stock, so thanks for the video and I will have to try, for sure. Have a fabulous weekend. x
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are lovely. I adore the way you left so much white space. I have trouble doing that. Your lion is roaring. It is fabulous, and I wish we got brushos here in the states, because I can't find them in my town. This is a fantastic lion entry for Try it on Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteTwo wonderful cards. Thank you for sharing the first one with us at Try it on Tuesdays. The yellow background for the lion image looks super. I've never tried Brusho's on gloss card I will try that sometime.

So sorry for the terribly late visit, Kylie! The brushos have worked brilliantly and it's created a really striking base for the lion head. I've not got any glossy card, may have to change that! And your little crab....squeee, so cute! Such a cheery way to say happy birthday x
