Inkspirational #172

G'day everyone! Today starts the new challenge over at Inkspirational. I am actually the hostess for this challenge and decided to choose the following - Use Vellum!

Here is my card -

I started with a decent piece of vellum and sprinkled two different lots of embossing enamel. I heated from underneath and ended up with a beautiful embossed piece that I die cut my butterflies from.

I die cut the butterflies again in black cardstock to overlay them on.

I hope to see you over at Inkspirational!

I would also like to enter my card into the following challenges -

Grab it!

Thanks for popping in :)

Tribute to Melissa Lane

Today I am joining in with the STAMPloration girls to honour our friend Melissa Lane.

Melissa unexpectedly passed away on the 2nd October.

Melissa was on the Design team for Addicted to Stamps and More! and Happy Little Stampers. Most recently she was a designer at STAMPlorations and made amazing cards and Mixed Media creations.

I was blessed to have met Melissa, her husband Chris, and her four children - Sarah, Ian, Hannah, and Abigail - at the HLS Craft Retreat in 2016.

I am truly lost for words about the loss of Melissa. Those who know me understand how I feel :)

For my tribute to Melissa (we both love butterflies), I decided to CASE one of her cards.

When I saw this card, I knew it would be perfect. The red butterfly that had been gold embossed, the sentiment, the CAS creation. This is Just for You, My Friend :)

Instead of the wire, I used Embossing Enamel that I sprinkled on my paper and heated from underneath.

This is a scheduled post which goes live at 2am here in Australia. I will add it to the tribute post as soon as I can. For those of you wishing to create something, you can find all the details over at the STAMPlorations blog HERE. Thank you Shery for organising this :)

RIP, my friend xx

Pumpkin Day

Hi everyone. The weather is a little crazy here today so I've spent a bit of time making some cards.

I've actually made two cards because I wanted to join in with the Twofer challenge. The word this fortnight is Harvest. 'Harvest' is more an American term? Regardless, I decided to challenge MYSELF and play along :) I decided to use a pumpkin stamp to reflect Harvest.

Here are my two cards -

My first card used the pumpkin from a STAMPlorations set. I embossed and masked the image and watercoloured it with my Zigs. I then fussy cut the whole thing out, adhered it to my card base, and lastly added the die cut sentiment.
Now bear with me... LOL. I also thought that with the Harvest theme, it is also the time that Thanksgiving is coming up in America? That's why I decided on the 'Thanks' sentiment :)

My second card was a light bulb moment. I decided to use the pumpkin to create my very own Jack 'o Lantern. This wasn't easy so I don't know how people cut through a REAL pumpkin to create these. Must be tough work! I then decided I HAD to have him light up just like a lantern so I used my Chibitronics supplies to do just that.

These cards were a lot of fun to make and made me think outside the box :)

I would also like to enter my cards into the following challenges -

Card 1 - Thanks Pumpkins

Sweet Stampers - Autumn or Halloween

Card 2 - Halloween Pumpkin

Cards in Envy - Spooky
Use your stuff - Halloween

That's it for me today - nearly time for bed! Thanks for popping in :)

Inkspirational #171 - Comfort

Hey everyone! It's time for a new challenge over at Inkspirational and we have a word prompt for you to play with over the next couple of weeks.

Here is my card -

At the time of making this card, I needed a hug. I had just heard that one of my good crafty/blogging friends had suddenly passed away. This card will go to her family.

The heart was die cut out of yupo paper that I had used to scoop up leftover paint after an acrylic pour.

I would like to enter my card into the following challenges -

Try it on Tuesday - Black, White, and one other colour
The Crafter's Cafe - Black, White, and one other colour
Double Trouble Challenges - Black, White, and one other colour (thanks for the heads up, Cass)

I hope you will join us over at Inkspirational where our word prompt is - Comfort.
