Pink Christmas Poinsettias

Happy Saturday everyone!

I have been working on my Christmas Cards as I have really been a bit lazy and haven't done many at all.

I found a card that I received from Karen of Serendipity Dragonfly for last Christmas and just had to CASE it. It really is beautiful and I have made about 4 so far.

Trying to change things up, I wanted to make some that were pink. I was inspired by the photo over at Just Add Ink - it was just the motivation I needed.

Here is my card -

I really had trouble photographing this card. I don't know if it is the design or what but I failed miserably! After a LOT of tries, this was the best I could come up with. It really does look a lot nicer in real life.

(Kim, I have received all my goodies now, thanks!!)

I really love this card. The design is beautiful. I have put together a tutorial which will be on my blog soon, so stay tuned.

In the photo below, you will be able to see the little notecard with some bakers twine attached to slide it in and out.

My mini poinsettias are dies from Marianne Designs. Once I had put them together, I realised that I had wanted to sponge around the edges first. Oh well, a bit back to front but they ended up looking ok :)

Again, I apologise for my poor photography. Hopefully I will improve as I can see myself making more of these cards.

Here is the photo from JAI that inspired me -

I would also like to enter this card these challenges -

Southern Girls Challenge - Christmas is -coming
Creative Knockouts - Christmas in July
Bloggers Challenge - Christmas in July
ABC Christmas Challenge - O for Obscured (my little hidden pocket)

Thanks so much for looking xx

IBSIC #27 & JAI #136

After a very humid morning, the clouds are getting darker and I think we are going to get a nice storm this afternoon. It's been a lovely day to do craft especially when my mail came a little earlier than usual and I had a wonderful package arrive from Joanne over at Inspired By Stamping.

Over at Inspired by Stamping there is a colour inspiration challenge. At Just Add Ink you need to make something for kids.
I have actually chosen to make a gift today. Even though we don't celebrate Halloween here in Australia, each year more and more kids do the whole trick 'n treating routine. Last year my 7 neices and nephews all did it and got dressed up to the hilt. So, I decided that instead of being a Halloween scrooge, I would make them up some little lolly boxes using my Simply Scored.

Now, I got a bit gung ho with this one and didn't take photos as I was going. The inside of the box has 3 compartments which I will pop in black jellybeans (Bat Droppings) and other suspicious looking treats ;) The lid really should have been made using a clear window sheet or something similar but all I had was some vellum. It worked really well but you can't see inside the box very well.

I have used the following colours for papers etc - Tangerine Tango, Pumpkin Pie, Very Vanilla and Real Red. All the stamps are from Inspired By Stamping. I love the sayings on these stamps - for example "Toxic Tonic, Fur of Werewolf & Voodoo Potion" to name just a few. My neices and nephews who range from 9 years old and down are going to love these!! (Now, I have to make another 6!!).

Now, I am off to make another card using these colours as inspiration!

Thanks for looking xx

Just Add Ink - Inspiration Photo

Off to bed soon. Hopefully all the antibiodics will have taken hold on my son by the morning. He's got a case of bronchitis. Poor bugger.

So, my last post for tonight is to show you a card I have made for the JAI Inspiration Photo challenge.

Once again, I went for a CAS design to try and show the colours that I wanted to use.
I started with my Reason to Smile stamp set. I found after a couple of attempts that this particular stamp works better if I use my basic black marker instead of the pad. Once stamped (using my stamp-a-ma-jig), I embossed the image with clear powder. I then coloured in the flowers using Tangerine Tango, Wild Wasabi and Perfect Plum.

I then layered co-ordinating papers and VOILA.

Now, I have just had to come back to say that with my ruddy internet, this just took me an hour and a half to publish this post and get my link to JAI with 4 minutes to spare. Arghhhhhhhhhh.

Thanks for looking xx

JAI #127 - Colour Challenge & IBS #18 - Sketch Challenge

Hi everyone. I was hunting around today and found a sketch challenge that I thought I would play along with which also gave me the basis for my colour challenge at Just Add Ink.

Here is my card -

The colour inspiration came from "Just Add Ink"

I, once again, opted for Blue in my combo.

This is the Sketch from "Inspired By Stamping"

IBSIC-#18

A bit of embossing with my Lattice and Perfect Polka Dots folder on Whisper White card. I have also embossed the small black panel with the Stripes folder. I stamped my Four Frames stamp with Marina Mist and punched out with my Frame Punch. The sentiment is from my Petite Pairs set.

Thanks for looking and click on their images to check out these challenges. xx

JAI 123 - Just Add a Sketch

I've been sooooo busy with the challenge blog that I have only just been able to really have a look around at the challenges I like to play along with. This sketch challenge at Just Add Ink was right up my alley.

I haven't been able to use my Whisper White stampin' pad much so I decided to incorporate it into my design. I distressed the edges of the Brushed Gold cardstock and then embossed it with my Stripes folder. The stamp is from the Four Frames set and then punched out with my label punch. I used a stick pin thing-a-ma-jig in place of a 'clip'. I also used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to place the 'Sister' stamp in the frame.

Thanks for looking.

After a big today, I jumped on to have a look at the newest JAI challenge. This challenge is awesome! I loved the Pearl theme as I don't really think to use them that often.

You can find the challenge HERE

I used my new framelit dies, whisper white ribbon, Elements of Style stamp set coloured in with Marina Mist marker.

Just Add Ink #117 - Colour Challenge (2nd card)

My son and I had training today - we are volunteers for the Rural Fire Brigade. I was nearly on brain overload! So, after the dinner run and other bits and pieces what a better way to unwind then make a card.

The yellow's used in the Just Add Ink challenge were actually therapeutic for me! I couldn't help but make another for the challenge JAI #117 Colour challenge.

Just Add Ink Challenge #116 - Just add Mother

Well, I couldn't wait for the next challenge! JAI#116 - Just Add Mother.

I don't have any stamps that actually have the word 'mum' or 'mother' on them... I will have to remedy that!

I had fun making this. I had way too many ideas and wish I could enter more cards. I hope the effect of the misting and glitter can be seen ok in the photo.
