Happy Birthday Kim - Surprise Linky Party!

As you may have guessed, I am hosting a surpirse birthday party here on my blog.

We have a wonderful and dear friend that is celebrating her birthday today -

Kim Heggins of Cupcakes, Cards and Kim - isn't she beautiful!!!

Welcome

Kim is on my design team at Happy Little Stampers. She currently creates for my CAS and CASE teams. Kim is a wonderful team player and is so enthusiastic. She is also on a number of other design teams (The Challenge, 12 Kits of Holidays, Simply Create Too, ColourQ) - one busy bee!

I really wanted her birthday to be special for her this year and bring all of us crafty friends together and show her how much we love her.

Here is my card for Kim -

I decided to try colouring on black cardstock. I LOVE how it turned out. I embossed the first flower and then covered it with a mask and stamped the second flower. I kept doing this until I was happy with my design. I also embossed the sentiment.

I simply coloured the flowers and leaves with pencils.

I had so much fun making this card that I even created a second card and video tutorial for you to try it out yourself!

I have used the new set from Happy Little Stampers called 'Doodled Flowers'.

Below you will find the linky so you can join in. I will have it open for 2 weeks giving you plenty of time to wish Kim a Happy Birthday in your own way and to also spread the word. Please link back to this post so others may join in.

Addicted to Pink and Grey

I really do love this colour combo. I'm not sure why I don't use it more often!

I created another card last night. When the mojo is hot, it's hot! Make the most of it, I say :)

Here is my card -

I created my background using Worn Lipstick Distress Ink. I put some ink on to my craft mat, misted it with water and picked up the ink with Mixed Media Paper. I did the same with a smaller piece that I embossed my butterfly onto and die cut it out.

I flicked some acrylic paint (white and grey) on to my larger panel.

I also used a white gel pen to add some extra interest to my butterfly.

The sentiment was stamped with grey ink.

Pink and Grey Flowers

Hi! I hope you aren't sick of seeing my new Doodled Flowers set from Happy Little Stampers. I am having lots of fun coming up with new ways to use them every time I get them out. This time I wanted to create a fancy border using the stamps.

I have also found that because they are so easy to create masks for, it is something I am incorporating on all of my cards so far.

This time I've also combined them with the Mix Mash set. The colours over at Inkspirational really helped me along with this one.

I started by creating my base card with grey cardstock. Then I cut a white panel the same size as my card front. I used a Lawn Fawn border die as a guide by tracing a line at the bottom third of the white panel. I stamped my three flowers first using the pencil line as a guide. I created a mask so I could start stamping the circles. I also made a mask for the largest circle.

Once I had everything stamped and coloured in, I fussy cut along the bottom edge of my stamping and up to the pencil line I had created. Once cut, I erased the line.

I mounted the panel onto my card base with foam tape. I decided it was missing a little depth so I used a white gel pen around the bottom of my fussy cutting.

A few enamel dots finished it off.

Stamping and Colouring on Black Cardstock (Black Magic Technique)

Hi everyone!

I was having fun creating a couple of cards using the Black Magic Technique. This is new to me so I decided to create a video tutorial.

I love this technique. It is really fun to see the colours come 'alive' from the black background.

Watercolour Fun

Hello! Well, haven't I been having fun with my new stamp set (Doodled Flowers) from Happy Little Stampers!

I wanted to combine stamping and watercolouring for my card today. I was having so much fun that I even made a second card :)

Here is my first one -

(I have CASED a card that I received for my birthday last year from the gorgeous Sarah Platt. You can see her card HERE. I loved it the moment I opened the envelope.)

I love the brightness of this card. I used yellow and orange brushos to create my background. I simply misted a small amount of water onto my paper and sprinkled the yellow brushos first. A little bit more water to move it around and then some orange brushos. A little more yellow at the top and it was done.

When it was completely dry, I embossed the flowers and leaves and masked while I stamped. I also embossed the sentiment. The black enamel dots were the finishing touch.

Thank you Sarah for your inspiration!

Embossing

(my choice was embossing)

Here is my next card -

I loved making this card. I embossed my flowers and leaves onto watercolour paper and grabbed some good old fashioned watercolour pencils and a water brush and added the colour.

The background was created with broken china distress ink swiped onto my craft mat and the ink picked up with my water brush.

I hadn't really planned on this design when I started but once I had everything fussy cut out, I decided to draw some stems and pop everything up with foam squares.

Doodle Flowers are here!

Hi everyone! I'm stopping in to say hi as I am now officially back from my holiday. The cruise was wonderful. Thank you to all my teamies that helped out while I was away with the various challenge blogs I run. I would be lost without you.

Today was exciting because the newest stamp set from Happy Little Stampers arrived.

I couldn't wait to play even though I have a stack of housework to do.... oh well it isn't going anywhere lol.

Here is my card

Over at Less Is More, Happy Little Stampers is the monthly sponsor. I wanted to create a card for that challenge and let you know that if you play along all month, you have a chance to win a prize from HLS. The theme for this challenge is

CITRUS

Here is the new set that I used -

I used a strip of post-it note to mask off the center of my card. I also created a mask for the flower. I stamped my first lot of flowers then used the mask to stamp a few more. I also added the leaves while the mask was on.

I coloured everything using gel pens.

The sentiment is from the HLS Thinking of You set.

HLS March Christmas Challenge

It's that time again! Another challenge starting over at Happy Little Stampers. I will be back from my cruise tomorrow so I will be able to catch up with you all then. I'm sure I'll be nice and relaxed :)

Today is the start of our Christmas Challenge. We would like you to make a

I decided to go with a circle card.

I've used some non-traditional colours here which I love.

Using my largest circle die (SU), I used it on folded card stock making sure I didn't cut right at the top of the fold. This left me with a perfect circle card.

I then cut the same circle twice more and embossed one using a dotty folder. The dotty one was adhered to the front and the plain one adhered to the back. This gave the card extra stability.

I created my snowflake background by using the '*' from the Bold Birthday Sentiments set. The sentiment is from the Mixed Christmas Sentiments set. Some die cut stars and a few pearls finished it off.

If you play along this month in any of the challenges at HLS, you could win!

I would like to welcome Rahmat as our Guest Designer this month. She is a big fan of HLS and is a wonderful follower of our challenges.

Thanks for popping by and don't forget to check out the Design Team over at the challenge blog.

HLS March CAS Challenge

Hi everyone! I hope you are up for a challenge over at Happy Little Stampers.

This one was a bit of a challenge for me as it isn't one of my 'go to' techniques but it was still fun to learn.

I made this card so long ago while I was working out this technique that I nearly can't remember how I did it!! Isn't that terrible, lol!

Because I didn't have the 'correct' materials that are shown in the Faux Mother of Pearl tutorials over on the challenge blog, I had to improvise.

Anywho....  For both of my cards I am pretty sure I used Brushos smooshed into my watercolour paper. Then I used some perfect pearls misted with a bit of water and my scrunched up cling wrap to add the 'mother of pearl'.

As I said, not the 'traditional' looking end result but I really like how it all turned out.

HLS CASE the Designer Challenge

Hi everyone. I can't believe it is March already!

This is a scheduled post for me as I am cruising around the South Pacific. I will check in when I get back with some photos :)

At Happy Little Stampers today is the day we kick off our

Kim Heggins came up with this amazing card using inlaid dies for us to CASE.

Here is my CASE of Kim's card -

I had to change up my layout to work with the dies I have in my stash but I love how it turned out.
I've used Glitter paper for my negative cuts and stamped the sentiment (Fun Birthday Sentiments) in black.

Here is another card I made because I was having fun with this technique.

I made the background for my inlaid dies by drawing with gelatos onto paper to create a rainbow, spraying it wit a gloss sealer and then die cutting my bits and pieces.

I hope you pop on over to the Happy Little Stampers blog to see the amazing inspiration by the Design Team.
