Lift the Flap Birthday Card

Hello! Like me, you probably have a heap of things in your stash that you haven't used yet. Either that or it hasn't seen the light of day for some time???

I decided to create a fun birthday card using my new dies from Lawn Fawn called Lift the Flap.

I started with a panel of watercolour paper and used three colours of distress ink to blend my background. I flicked water and some white acrylic paint over the entire thing.
I stamped, coloured (polychromo pencils), and die cut the dragon.
(BTW, I die cut him using my NEW Gemini Jnr.... oh my.... I'm in love)

Then it was time for some embossing. I embossed the stars then used distress ink and flicks of water, once again, to create the background. I embossed the two sentiments (from a Ranger sentiment set) and used my guillotine to cut down to size.

The gifts are from a Christmas set (MFT) which I coloured and die cut.

I adhered the two panels together to create the front of my card. The entire thing opens, as normal, for me to write inside.

I would like to enter my card over at the following challenges -
Dies R Us Challenge (Birthdays), HLS Watercolour Challenge (Die Cuts), STAMPlorations Theme Challenge (Stamps and Splatters), Watercooler Wednesdays (Occasions), My Time to Craft (New Stash), Fairy and Unicorn Challenge (Anything Fantasy Goes)

Less Is More #405 (Recipe)

Hi there! It's time for a new challenge over at Less Is More! We have a recipe to inspire you this fortnight.

Here are the elements you can choose from -
sparkle + gloss,
sparkle + matte,
sparkle + pearl,
sparkle + chalky

I decided to go with sparkle + matte.

I used a new technique to me to create my window. I sprinkled some embossing enamel into a laminating pouch then ran it through my laminator. I saw done by Jennifer McGuire.
I created my sparkle by using embossing enamel with gold sprinkles through it. I also covered my cardinal with a touch of sparkle.

The matte element was created by using distress inks to create my background panel and the strip for the sentiment.

I would like to enter my card over at the following challenges

Less is More #400 - Small Images

Today we start a new challenge over at Less Is More. We want you to work with small images. You can even use small images together to create a background or just stamp them like I have.

Here are my cards -

Card #1
I finally bought the MFT stamp set Jingle all the Way. I got to have a play with it a couple of years ago when I was in the UK and stayed with Sarah P. Now I have it in my collection and these small images are perfect to create a simple design or combine them to create a scene.
I coloured the images with my polychromo pencils (I love these!) and used a white gel pen to create dots and extra interest :)

Card #2
Once again I used my pencils to colour this cute dinosaur from Lawn Fawn. My grandson is into the 'rawr' word at the moment and I love how this sentiment defines its meaning :) I even bought this stamp set especially for him as he loves anything that 'rawrs' LOL

Oldie but a Goodie

Hi everyone! Time for a new challenge over at Inkspirational where Nonni would like you to look through your stash and find one of the first stamps you started stamping with to create something.

I have destashed a LOT of my stamps. When I started crafting, I was using mainly Stampin' Up products among others. When I started Happy Little Stampers, I started selling off a lot of my stamps. I did keep quite a few sets, though. So, my stamp set isn't one of the original ones that I have used but it is one of the ones that I have had in my collection the longest.

This is a stamp set from Lawn Fawn called Life is Good. I used my MISTI to stamp all my images onto watercolour paper. I embossed them with black powder. They were all coloured with my Zig Watercolour Markers and die cut out with their coordinating dies.

The sentiment is from HLS Mix Mash.

I added some wink of stella to the sand castle and bucket. I hope you can see it in the photo below.

This was really fun to make and was certainly a blast from the past :)

I can't wait to see your blast from the past so don't forget to play along over the next two weeks :)

I would like to enter my card into the following challenges -

Crafty Gals Corner - Punches and/or Dies
Crafty Cardmakers - Under the sea or at the beach
Make My Monday - Lazy days of summer

Ta Ta for now.

Reminder for HLS Challenges

Hi everyone. Back today with a quick reminder for you that there is still time to join in this month's Christmas Challenge and Sketch Challenge at Happy Little Stampers.

First up is the Sketch -

For my card this time, I went with a big flower instead of a tree.

This stamp comes from SU! Flower Fair. I stamped the image four times and then fussy cut each layer. Popped up with foam tape gave it great dimension.

Next is the Christmas Challenge. You need to follow the word that is provided and your project must be related to Christmas.

Here is my card -

I went with a shaker card and concentrated on having a cardinal sitting among the birch trees.

I've used 'snow' in the shaker which is a bit hard to see so here is the card laying flat.

and the inside of my card is below

Whenever I make these it is a real PAIN when all your sequins and goodies get stuck to the inside sides of the shaker part of the card. I can't remember who (sorry!) but I was told that baby powder would stop that from happening. I actually swiped my embossing buddy over the inside of the shaker element once assembled and now not one piece of the snow has stuck! Awesome!

And now the CAS Challenge

I used Acrylic block stamping for my background.

Pop on over to the challenge blog now because there are heaps of reminders for you about all our monthly challenges.

Thanks so much for looking xx

ATCAS Challenge #63 BIRDS

Happy Saturday!

Time for a brand new challenge at Addicted to CAS!

Our code word chosen by the amazing Jan is

Create something Clean and Simple using our code word!

Here is my DT card -

I have used Lawn Fawns Winter Sparrows set. Once I had stamped all my images, I grabbed my Spectrum Noir markers to colour them. I had actually wanted to colour the birds red and their hats blue but accidentally started with the blue on the birds - whoops. I thought they looked quite cute anyway and would probably work well as a masculine card.

Our wonderful sponsor is

and you could win a $20 gift certificate to their store!!

We also have a fabulous guest designer and close friend of mine - Monika - joining us for this challenge. Please don't forget to pop on over and say hi.

I would also like to take a moment to thank Harriet Skelly for all her hard work over at ATCAS. Harriet has been with me since the very beginning but has had to step down from the DT due to family commitments. Harriet, thank you for your amazing inspiration, your friendship and your creativity. Bless you and your family. xoxoxoxo

ATSM Challenge #136 - Anything Goes

Welcome back! How are you all today?

Our new challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More is

ANYTHING GOES

I have used my Spectrum Noir markers for this Christmas card. I was inspired by a card I saw on the Lawn Fawn Pinterest page.

Here is my card -

I stamped my images from the Lawn Fawn 'Joy to the Woods' set and then coloured them in. I die cut all my bits and pieces and started to assemble my card.

Can you see that I have used acetate on the front which gives you a clear view to the back of the card?

Here is the inside of the card

There is still plenty of room to write your message - I will either write on the snow banks or place a panel on the back of the card if I don't have enough room.

The only issue with this card is it doesn't quite sit right seeing I took a fair chunk off the front panel.

We have a wonderful sponsor this week too

and our winner will have the chance to receive 1 x stamp set and 1 x paper pad!!

Check out the other cards on display at the challenge blog - you will love them!

Thanks so much for looking xx

Skies are definitely Grey!

Happy Saturday!

If you haven't heard we are having wild weather here in Queensland due to a Category 5 tropical cyclone that hit the coast yesterday. I was woken up at 3.30am yesterday morning due to the wind and rain - it was pretty scary. I'm about 1000km away from where the cyclone was due to make landfall so I can't even begin to imagine what it was like up there. Thank goodness there are no reports of lives lost but there is a lot of damage to a number of communities and my thoughts and prayers go out to them.

As the cyclone moved south and downgraded to a tropical low, the weather is deteriorating as the day goes on. We are starting to flood a little and the wind rain is relentless.

At the same time there was a Category 4 cyclone hitting the top end of Australia. Mother nature at its best...

So, what's a girl to do when holed up at home? Retreat to the craft room!

Today I made a card that was totally inspired by the weather.

I have used my stitched rectangle, rainbow and cloud die from Lil' Inkers as well as the sentiment. I created my grass with my hillside border dies from Lawn Fawn.

My raindrops are from PTI

Stretch Those Dies Part 2

Yes, a second post for me today :) I wanted to create another card like the one I posted earlier but this time I used different dies for my rainbow.

I have the Lawn Fawn Joy to the Woods stamps and dies and the birch tree die was perfect for creating my rainbow!

The sentiment is from the Lawn Fawn Life is Good set.

I once again followed the sketch from ShowCASe your Style (It is a loose interpretation this time)

Stretch those Dies!

Good morning everyone. I would like to show you a card that I made last night. I actually had one of those lightbulb moments. I had looked at the sketch over at ShowCASe your Style for a few days and really wasn't sure what to do and then an idea just came to me so off I went into the craft room.

Here is my card

My first idea didn't work out. I created my rainbow using watercolours but didn't like the end result. I wished I had a die that would just cut strips for me but I didn't have that either and then I remembered I had a Window Box die that would do the trick. I cut out my pieces from different coloured paper and mounted them on my light blue panel and then assembled the rest of the card.

The Stitched Rectangle die is from Lil' Inkers as is the sentiment. I used my Stitched Hillside Border die from Lawn Fawn to create my gap.

The little raindrops are from PTI.
