Less Is More #402 - One Layer Card using Stencils

Happy Saturday! Over at Less is More we have a brand new challenge for you and this fortnight we want you to create a one layer card using stencils.

Here are my cards

Card #1
First, I masked off an area to try and keep my design to just one third of the card. I used a star stencil and blended the colour using distress ink then stamped the sentiment.

Card #2
I created a stencil using alphabet dies. Once I placed my stencil on my card, I used distress inks for the colours and a simple sentiment to finish it off.

Less is More #400 - Small Images

Today we start a new challenge over at Less Is More. We want you to work with small images. You can even use small images together to create a background or just stamp them like I have.

Here are my cards -

Card #1
I finally bought the MFT stamp set Jingle all the Way. I got to have a play with it a couple of years ago when I was in the UK and stayed with Sarah P. Now I have it in my collection and these small images are perfect to create a simple design or combine them to create a scene.
I coloured the images with my polychromo pencils (I love these!) and used a white gel pen to create dots and extra interest :)

Card #2
Once again I used my pencils to colour this cute dinosaur from Lawn Fawn. My grandson is into the 'rawr' word at the moment and I love how this sentiment defines its meaning :) I even bought this stamp set especially for him as he loves anything that 'rawrs' LOL

Less Is More #398 - OLC Spots

Hello! It's time for a new challenge at Less Is More! We would like you to create a ONE LAYER CARD using our theme of  Spots.

I've made two cards for you:

Card #1
I was inspired by something I saw on pinterest. A piece of spotty fabric used on a card to create a gift.
I traced around the inside of a square die, then randomly stamped my spots (from HLS). I then used a black pen to create the outside of the box and the bow.

Card #2
I used my new MFT stamp set to create this one layer card. I stamped the deer, coloured him with polychromo pencils, then lastly added his spots with a white gel pen.

We have a wonderful Guest Designer joining us this fortnight - Maria Rodriguez!

Less Is More #393 - Subtle Colours

Happy weekend everyone! I actually have nearly a full weekend without work today and tomorrow. I'm not sure what to do with myself :) I finished up my job as Bar Supervisor at the RSL last night and am now concentrating on my new career in the Pharmacy. I am also doing my online degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice so that takes up a lot of time too. So, happy days!

It's a new challenge at LIM starting now and we would like you to use -

When I first thought about this theme, I was thinking of very light, delicate colours. I also felt there was room for interpretation - subtle can mean a 'hint' of something. I decided to go with my second way of thinking.

I spritzed some Turquoise Brusho on to my watercolour paper and quickly dried it using a heat gun. I positioned my die so I could get that subtle hint of blue on the die cut itself. Turquoise, itself, probably isn't a subtle colour on its own but I found a way to use it in the context needed.

I have a second card but I probably pushed the boundaries a little with this one. In my opinion, I should have made sure there was less of the colour behind the die cut. Meaning, perhaps an ombre effect so there was even less colour on most parts.

We are very lucky to be joined by our Guest Designer - Milla who was our February Winner!

Less Is More #390 - Horoscopes

Hello! Wow, I've been so busy that I nearly even forgot to create for this challenge (thinking I had another week up my sleeve..). I whipped up a couple of cards and really wanted to make more but time wasn't on my side.

Horoscopes is the theme for the new challenge at LIM. There is a WIDE variety of ideas that you can use for this theme. Birthdays, Stars, Star Signs, Astronomy, Tarot Cards, Constellations, etc.

Due to my time restraints (I'm usually way ahead with my DT makes), I guess I went the easy way out, lol. I went with Star Signs - the animals that represent them.

Card #1
If you have never given Brushos (or other powdered pigments) a whirl on glossy card, please do yourself a favour and give it a try. It is a really great way to use the powders and the results are so different each time you do it.
I simply sprinkled a little yellow brusho and misted it carefully with water due to wanting to keep the colour to a specific area. I stamped my Lion (Star Sign: Leo) and sentiment using my MISTI. Be very careful when stamping as the ink stamp may stick to the paper making it hard to get a crisp image.

If you would like to see how I use Brushos with Glossy card, check out my youtube tutorial. It was one of my first videos, so please be kind :)

Card #2
One of the simplest cards you will ever find but it's the style I love the best :)
My star sign is Cancer so I had to make this little crab the star on this birthday card.
Our wonderful sponsor for this challenge is

Visible Image

If you are unsure of the rules for creating a Clean and Simple card, please see the guidelines over at the challenge blog.

We have a wonderful Guest Designer Jane Tyrrell from Jane's Journals joining us too!

Card #2 - Sparkles Challenge (Include an Animal)
