Simply Stampin Sketch Week

I decided to use one of my new Stampin' Up stamp sets that I had bought from overseas on ebay. Actually I used two - Painted Posies (two step) and Whimsical Words. (I call them new but one is from 2005!! lol lol) Just goes to show what quality products we have at Stampin' Up!

The challenge was the Simply Stampin Sketch Week which I really enjoyed. The thing I love most about these challenges is that I either get rid of any creative block I have at the time, or I get out of the rut of doing the same old thing. At one stage I was just watercolour, watercolour, watercolour!! I've just ordered some alcohol based markers to try my hand at that too. Can't wait until they arrive!

Anyway, this is the card I came up with from the sketch provided -

When I decided I was going to use this particular stamp set, I decided that I would try the masking effect. Well, I started off all wrong! In the end, I decided to cut out the purple flowers by hand and use dimensionals to get them to pop. I used liquid pearl dimensional paint on the centre of those flowers.

At the end of it all, I was happy with the result. Wasn't the plan I had intended but I guess that's what happens as you go along lol.

Thanks for looking xx

Merry Monday #22

Well the last couple of days have been blowy and raining. Gave me the chance to do a card!

Here is the challenge at Merry Monday #22 and this is my card

I was really hoping that my new circle dies would show up in the mail today otherwise I would have been cutting out by hand again. When they didn't arrive, I decided to keep it nice and simple without the circle.

Merry Monday #21

I had a lot of fun (again) making this Christmas Card. It was a bit fiddly for me because I don't have any circle or snowflake dies. So, I cut them out by hand. Don't look too close!! LOL

The challenge this week at Merry Monday was a sketch. You can find the challenge here - Merry Monday #21

This is the card I came up with

52 {Christmas} Card throwdown - Theme Challenge #5

Another awesome challenge from 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown - Theme Challenge #5

This is the first time I have used this stamp set. There are so many ways to go with this, I can see myself making some more.

The Paper Players Challege #96

Well, this morning I decided to have a go at the new challenge posted at Paper Players Challenge #96: Anne Marie's CAS with Polka Dots Challenge. I looked at everything I had that incorporated polka dots. I ended up on Polka Dot overload lol!!!

Everything used on the card has polka dots in one way or another. All paper and stamps - Stampin' Up! This was really fun!

Dynamic Duos #3 - Black Tie & Simply Stampin #60 - Theme

Hi everyone, another great challenge at Dynamic Duos. This week it is Dynamic Duos #3 - Black Tie week with Dessert option

I had quite a few ideas for this and the inspiration cards by the DT were fantastic!

This is the end result - as usual a very CAS design. I start off trying to think of everything I could put on the one card and then it ends up like this lol.

Thanks to the awesome Kelly, I am going to enter this card into the Simply Stampin Challenge #60 - Theme as well. Can't wait to see the other challenges there!

I received news on Saturday morning that at friend of mine had passed away. He had gone to the doctor/hospital due to not feeling well and while there, he had a heart attack. He was only 52...

The card that I entered into the last challenge at Cardabilities is the one I am sending his wife as a sympathy card.

Just tragic.

I seem to be a bit into embossing today lol. Anyway, here is my card and thanks for looking :)

Merry Monday #20

Talk about having withdrawals!! I've had a huge week helping with the Fire Brigade. This morning I got all the housework done and have now settled down to craft (you guessed it) YAY.

I started by having a look around for the challenges that had been posted. This is the first one that I have finished. It's a challenge at Always Playing with Paper - Merry Monday #20

I had a terrible time trying to photograph this card - I was trying to show the gold embossing. Hopefully you can tell just a little :)

Thanks for looking

The Paper Players Challenge #95

Hi again,

Yep, I've done yet another card. I'm really, really tired lol. My rooster is in competition with another one and decides he must crow BEFORE the sun comes up. Ugh....

Anyway, apart from my poultry issues, I decided to enter a challenge called The Paper Players Challenge #95: Ann's Colour Challenge

Here are the colours -

I was a bit iffy about doing these colours because I really only have Daffodil Delight (I've only just really started at Stampin' Up).

I pretty much just used what I felt was close enough to the challenge - the point is to have fun and get inspiration right? LOL!

I used all Stampin' Up products except the stamp (shhhhhh). It was one I've had for a while and thought the colours would be good with her raincoat etc.

I can't wait to see the other creations for this challenge. I love looking at all the wonderful cards!

PS - Sorry the card is crooked LOL!

52 {Christmas} Card throwdown - Colour Challenge #5

It's a beautiful, sunny, autumn morning here today. I see there are a few new challenges out and about, woo hoo!

I'm actually waiting for some new products to arrive today so I really should wait..... or do I?

The first challenge I found was for 52 {Christmas} Card throwdown . It's a colour challenge and here is the image for inspiration -

Well, I waited for the post and I am so glad I did. This was my mothers day present so of course I ordered craft supplies!

Here is my finished card for the colour challenge shown above. These colours are AWESOME!!!!

I LOVE making Christmas cards!!! Whoppeee!!

Just Add Ink #117 - Colour Challenge (2nd card)

My son and I had training today - we are volunteers for the Rural Fire Brigade. I was nearly on brain overload! So, after the dinner run and other bits and pieces what a better way to unwind then make a card.

The yellow's used in the Just Add Ink challenge were actually therapeutic for me! I couldn't help but make another for the challenge JAI #117 Colour challenge.

Just Add Ink Blog Hop

Today I was looking through the Just Add Ink blog hop. What a cool idea!

This got the oooh's and ahhhh's out of me that it deserved. I decided that after dinner I would use one of the techniques in the blog hop to create a new card. I decided to use the tips provided by Danielle Daws - using a Stamp-A-Ma-Jig and Masking. I had never done this before and have some stamps that are great for masking etc.

Here is the link to the tutorial provided by Danielle  - JAI Blog Hop

This is what I came up with.

Merry Monday #19 - Sketch

Well, it's getting late... I have just finished my challenge for Always Playing with Paper - Merry Monday #19

Using the sketch provided for the challenge, I decided to do a very Australian theme. You can't get more Aussie than Santa going for a surf at Christmas time!

This is the first time I have entered this challenge. My main love in cardmaking is creating Christmas cards and it's never to early to do so! I have a feeling I'm going to love these challenges at Always Playing with Paper lol.

Goodnight!!!

Just Add Ink Scrap #5 - Just Add Vintage/Heritage

I was really excited when I saw the new scrapbook challenge on Just Add Ink. I have never done a 'vintage' look before and got stuck right into it.

I'm happy with the result and can see myself doing more of this sort of Layout. You can find this cool challenge here - JAI Scrap #5 Just Add Vintage/Heritage

Just Add Ink Challenge #116 - Just add Mother

Well, I couldn't wait for the next challenge! JAI#116 - Just Add Mother.

I don't have any stamps that actually have the word 'mum' or 'mother' on them... I will have to remedy that!

I had fun making this. I had way too many ideas and wish I could enter more cards. I hope the effect of the misting and glitter can be seen ok in the photo.

Wednesday 2 May 2012

While looking around the internet for inspiration last night until stupid hours of the morning, I saw the impossible box on Just Add Ink.

So, I gave it a go.

I used whisper white cardstock, embossed the image onto the box and used Concord Crush ink to sponge on the lid and rim.

I had a lot of fun doing this as getting the template right is a challenge itself, lol.
