Mix Mash Birthday

My second post for today!

I have another card to share that was inspired by the challenge at Less Is More. I did a part CASE of Valentyna's card using the Mix Mash set from Happy Little Stampers.

This is a one layer card. I've done a couple of those lately - don't know what got into me ;)

I randomly stamped the circles (after checking out Valentyna's design) using grey and pink ink. The sentiment is from the same set. The number is from the Big Bold Numbers set.

Big Bold Numbers and a Happy New Year

Hi there. How is your weekend treating you?

I made a very quick card last night and combined two sets from Happy Little Stampers - Big Bold Numbers and Everyday Sentiments.

Here is my card

The numbers were stamped in Neon Pink. I then assembled my words from the Everyday Sentiments set on to an acrylic block and stamped them together.

Easy peasy!

I would like to enter my card into the following challenges -

Thanks

Hi everyone! I hope you are well.

Summer isn't official here until the 1st of December but we are feeling it at the moment with a heat wave. I just checked the outside themometer (10.45am) and it is already 30 degrees celcius. Tomorrow it is meant to get to 35! Pooh!

Last night I made a card which was inspired by the latest Time Out challenge where you need to CASE the amazing Karen Dunbrook.

Here is my card -

I used a technique called Stamping with Embossing Folders (you can check out my quick video tutorial HERE). I used watercolour paper for this one and the Embossing folder is from Kaisercraft called 'Cogs'.

Here is Karen's card

I stamped the sentiment from the HLS Thinking of You set and added three Glitter Enamel Dots, also from HLS.

My card took no time to create and it is a really fun technique.

I would also like to enter these fun challenges

One Layer with Whimiscal Friends

Hello. I hope you are all well!

Last night I made a one layer card and used a technique that I should do more often - colouring on kraft paper.

To start with, I embossed my elephant and sentiment (from the HLS Whimsical Friends set). I used alcohol markers to colour. I added the dots to the blanket and edges of the card using a white gel marker.

I would like to enter into the following challenges

I thought my elephant was very pretty with her pink blanket and toe nails :)

Addicted to Stamps and More has an Anything Goes challenge plus a DT call on right now so you should pop on over and see if you would like to become part of the team.

Loll's Mixed Media Twelve Tags of Christmas

It is on again! The Christmas Tag Event you have been waiting for. Loll Thompson has an annual event to encourage you to make Christmas Tags. I am honoured to be a Guest Designer again. Last year was a huge success and I know this one will be as well.

Your tags must be Mixed Media which is defined as

stamps + ink, plus two other elements which add texture and/or dimension.

The inspiration tags by the designers will be showcased from the 4th-15th of November and the linky will remain open until the 22nd November so it gives you plenty of time to enter.

There are plenty of prizes up for grabs to - check out this line up!

Winner - $40 gift certificate from STAMPlorations
Top Three - $20 gift certificate each from STAMPlorations
Random Draw - $20 gift certificate from Happy Little Stampers
Random Draw - One Christmas stamp set from Dee's Artsy Impressions

Ok! On to my tag -

I had a LOT of fun making this tag. I really don't make tags but I loved how this turned out.

Here are the steps to make this tag -

1. Using the backing cardboard from a Stampin' Up DSP pack, die cut your tag (this made the tag nice and sturdy to start with).
2. Cover with gesso and let dry.
3. In the meantime, die cut poinsettia. Paint with white acrylic paint and sprinkle Stampendous Frantage Embossing Enamel (Shabby White) and heat set.
4. Sponge leaves with distress ink. Emboss with clear powder.
5. Assemble the poinsettia with glossy accents. Add pearls (from HLS) to the center.
6. Cover the tag with pink ink using an acrylic dabber (Ranger Pink Sherbet) and let dry.
7. Emboss background stamp in white powder.
8. Dab white acrylic paint around two corners and emboss with Shabby White enamel.
9. Add some lace on an angle and then adhere the poinsettia.
10. The finishing touch is the bakers twine (Gold flecked) from Happy Little Stampers Shop.

I do have an embossing dabber but I found that using acrylic paint really allows the Frantage to stick nicely to my project and then I get less 'flyaways' when trying to heat the enamel.

Here is a close up of my poinsettia -

I love the pink, gold and touches of green together. Non-traditional Christmas colours are the best!

I hope I have encouraged you to play along with Loll's Twelve Tags of Christmas. There is going to be amazing inspiration for you so make sure you check back each day to see the Designers.

Today also marks a new challenge over at Happy Little Stampers!

I am going to link up over there :)

Also at Time Out the theme is Christmas with option pink and/or purple.

Thanks so much for looking xx

HLS November Christmas Card Challenge

Hello! Ready for a new Christmas Challenge over at Happy Little Stampers?

Here is our word you need to use for this months challenge -

You can make a Christmas tag or incorporate a tag onto your card :)

We have a wonderful guest designer with us for this challenge - Bonnie from Stamping with Klass. Welcome!

I decided to create a tag -

I die cut my tag from a piece of DSP cardboard backing. This makes the tag nice and strong. I then die cut a piece of kraft paper and glued it to the tag.

I masked off the lower portion with a piece of painters tape and used true snow and a stencil to create my background in the upper portion.

I embossed the script stamp from the HLS Thinking of You set onto some gold paper and die cut out some trees. I found some christmas paper in my stash, glued it to the bottom portion then popped up my trees with foam squares. Lastly, I embossed Peace from the HLS Mixed Christmas Sentiments set.

My last part was tying up some Gold Flecked Bakers Twine - finished!

Our lucky winner for this challenge will win the Butterfly Birthday set from Happy Little Stampers -

HLS November CAS Challenge

Wooo hoo! Hi there :) Ready for a new CAS challenge over at Happy Little Stampers

DEFINITION:

gild·ing
ˈɡildiNG/
noun

the process of applying gold leaf or gold paint.
the material used in, or the surface produced by applying gold leaf or gold paint.

Suggestions:  use gold on all or part of a card base or embellishment (gold embossing powder, gold metallic pen, gold paint, gold mica powders, Inka gold wax paste, liquid gold pearls, gold shimmer mist, gilding flakes)

Here are some video tutorials for you to check out thanks to Loll :)

Here is my card -

I used gilding on my bottom layer. I used glue to add my gold flakes and then rubbed off the excess. It looks so pretty in real life.
I have embossed my butterfly from the HLS Butterfly Birthday set onto vellum and fussy cut it out. I also used some Gold Flecked Bakers Twine from the HLS shop to layer under the butterfly. The sentiment was embossed in gold. Lastly I used some gold acrylic paint and a brush to throw some splats around.

Our amazing Guest Designer this month is Karen! Thanks so much for joining us!

If you participate in our CAS challenge this month, you are in for a chance to win this stamp set!

If you are a butterfly lover like me, it is a must have in your collection :)

Thanks so much for looking and I hope to see you over there.

Pink Christmas

Hi again!

I would like to share with you a Christmas card that I have made. I was inspired by the current challenge at Time Out where you need to create a Christmas card with the option of pink and/or purple. Plus I wanted to create another card for Just Add Ink where you need to add W - I've used water again ;) Also, over at Allsorts they are having a Christmas challenge and I would like to link up there as well.

I LOVE non-traditional Christmas colours.

Here is my card -

Most of you probably know that I love smooshing my ink around on watercolour paper. Whether it is with brushos, distress inks, watercolour markers etc. That's exactly what I did for this card by smearing a distress ink pad (Pickled Raspberry) onto my craft mat, misting it with water and picking it up with the card stock. I dried my colour in between smooshing to get different effects.

I was also completely inspired by Anita's use of gold on her card. I not long ago bought a dew drop Brilliance Ink in Galaxy Gold. Time to get using it!

Once the panel was dry I put some of the gold onto my craft mat, picked it up with a wet brush and flicked it all over.

I used the brand new Everyday Sentiments set from Happy Little Stampers to create my greeting.

Those pearls are purple (even though they look like a dark blue in my photo) but they didn't start as purple. These are the normal self adhesive pearls that you can get from Happy Little Stampers but I coloured them with an alcohol marker.

If you are not sure what 'smooshing' is, please check out my video below because the first step I do to create panels for my butterflies is to use the smooshing technique. I used glossy cardstock in the tutorial but you can smoosh ink on just about anything!

Thanks for popping by!

HLS November Sketch Challenge

Hi there everyone! Welcome to November - holy cow!!!!

Not long to go until the big day now :)

Happy Little Stampers has a brand new sketch for you to play along with. I had fun with this one!

Here is my card -

I used three HLS sets to create this card. It was very simple to create.

The circles from the Mix Mash and Bold Birthday Sentiments made up my Christmas Tree. The sentiment is from the Mixed Christmas Sentiments set.

The bakers twine is also from Happy Little Stampers and is appropriately called 'Christmas'.

We have a wonderful Guest Designer playing along with us this month - Jen! Welcome to you!

You will also have the chance to win prizes from
