Less Is More #386 - Water

Hi everyone and Happy New Year. I am very, very excited today because it's my first post as a new Designer for the team at Less Is More! Woo hoo, girls, thank you for the opportunity.

Well! This challenge is right up my alley. I love making cards using this theme. You may know already that I love using Brushos. Spritzing them with water then smooshing them is one of my favourite techniques.
I have a number of cards showing you different ways to interpret water into your Clean and Simple card making.

Card #1
This was created by using a piece of watercolour paper that I had smooshed with Turquoise Brusho, I die cut the sentiment to make a bold colour pop on my black and white card.

Card #2
I decided to create a little island scene to represent water on this card. My water background was created by using Distress Ink and then flicking water over it. I stamped and die cut all my little images and coloured them in with pencils (I also live on an island so this is the perfect card for me).

Card #3
When you go to the water/coast who is there trying to steal your hot chips? Seagulls of course!
(thank you to Anita for sending me this stamp set, I love it!)

Card #4
I created a wave like effect using a new border die. I had some leftover paint after doing an Acrylic pour and smooshed it up with yupo paper.

As you can see, there are plenty of ways to interpret our theme for this challenge. The girls will have plenty more over at the challenge blog for you to see. We also have a wonderful Guest Designer joining us - Viv (Daizy-Mae's Crafty Blog).

Our sponsor this month is

www.skullandcrossbuns.com

I will be entering my cards into the following challenges:
Card #1 - Mix it Up - (Anything Goes with option of Sentiment as the main focus)
Card #2 - A2z Scrapbooking (Anything Goes), DigiStamps4joy (Anthing Goes using the twist of Four Seasons)
Card #3 - 2 Crafty Critters (Anything Goes), Double Trouble Challenges (using Thing 1/3)
Card #4 - Die Cut Divas (Something New)

That's it for me! Thanks for popping in xx

  2. OMG!! What a debut from you Kylie! Never mind water...you were on fire with this theme ;-) Where to start? Your first card is perfectly CAS and such a super design too. The second is a dreamy scene and I bet we all wish we were right there at this moment, eh? I love your colouring on that one. The last card is so elegant and classy. But, you guessed it....those seagulls have stolen my heart! I laughed when I saw that image and immediately thought I heard a 'mine! mine! mine!' in the distance (that's a gratuitous Finding Nemo reference). I need that stamp now. Anyway, welcome to the team and have a fab weekend my friend xx

  3. Great to see you join the DT at LIM, Kylie and what a fabulous set of water themed cards! Impossible to choose a favourite although I do love that bold sentiment on your first card and the creative use of the border die to create waves on your fourth :) They are all great CAS designs.

  5. WOW! You really rocked this theme, Kylie! What a fabulous set of cards and interpretations of the theme. I love them all, but yes, those seagulls steal the show. I am on an island as I type - we have a beach house on the New Jersey coast. It's winter here - cold and rainy, but I love it here no matter what the weather. It's awesome to be on this team with you. Cheers to this new adventure!!!

You totally rock this challenge and we are very lucky to have you in the team now ! Have a fabulous summer week (lucky you !).

  16. Welcome to LIM Kylie and wow what a start! 4 such inspiring cards! I especially love the 4th card: that border has beautiful art deco-feel and I love al the white space. Super stylish card! Those seagulls look hilarious... I love the expression they have on their faces! They look grumpy! :) Your very first card inspires me to dig out my curve die, I haven't used it in a while and your design is just so pretty and inspiring I want to have a go with it again! xxx
