52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown - Colour Challenge

Well! I was just a little bit excited when I saw what colours the gals had decided to use this week. It gave me a chance to use a few new things that I got a couple of days ago AND use the colours I love to use - especially for Xmas!!

I have used a textured silver panel to go over the black. The white panel has been embossed with my Snowflakes folder and then I used Real Red Ink on my NEW brayer. To finish off the panel, I used mini silver brads in the centre of the snowflakes.
I used the sentiment from my Tidings of Joy set which I inked with Versamark and then heat embossed with silver poweder. Whisper white ribbon and a little silver bow to finish off.

Thanks for looking xx

  1. Kylie you always amaze me with your fantastic creations and this one is spot-on too. It is so much fun to use new stuff isn't it. I have a brand new brayer as yet unused, may be I will give it a go now I've seen what you've done with it. Thanks for joining our challenge at 52CCT this week

    1. Hi Louise, thanks so much for your lovely comment. This was my first attempt with a brayer. I did a quick search as I was really quite nervous about using it. As soon as I started putting my card together and had decided to use my snowflake folder, I knew I had to use the brayer. Don't press too hard when rolling so it only 'grabs' the raised areas. If you think of other techniques be sure to let me know xx

  4. Kylie - this is absolutely wonderful! My first attempt (actually first 3 or 4) was a disaster as I just kept pressing too hard - how smart of you to search the technique first (I always seem to do things the hard way first). I'd like to point out one thing that really stands out - but I can't as I'm just in awe of the entire card. Thanks so much for sharing with us this week at 52CCT!

  5. This is a beautiful card Kylie, love the textured silver panel and the brayered embossing really pops - you did a great job!

If you want to try another look using a brayer try inking inside an embossing folder, just roll the inked brayer a few times on one side of the folder. Diana Gibbs has a video tutorial for the Bisque Pottery technique - it's amazing, I loved it when I tried it!

  7. Love the card. Thanks for the Brayer tip, I'll give it a try as I too have a Brayer that's seen very little use.
