Less Is More #393 - Subtle Colours

Happy weekend everyone! I actually have nearly a full weekend without work today and tomorrow. I'm not sure what to do with myself :) I finished up my job as Bar Supervisor at the RSL last night and am now concentrating on my new career in the Pharmacy. I am also doing my online degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice so that takes up a lot of time too. So, happy days!

It's a new challenge at LIM starting now and we would like you to use -

When I first thought about this theme, I was thinking of very light, delicate colours. I also felt there was room for interpretation - subtle can mean a 'hint' of something. I decided to go with my second way of thinking.

I spritzed some Turquoise Brusho on to my watercolour paper and quickly dried it using a heat gun. I positioned my die so I could get that subtle hint of blue on the die cut itself. Turquoise, itself, probably isn't a subtle colour on its own but I found a way to use it in the context needed.

I have a second card but I probably pushed the boundaries a little with this one. In my opinion, I should have made sure there was less of the colour behind the die cut. Meaning, perhaps an ombre effect so there was even less colour on most parts.

We are very lucky to be joined by our Guest Designer - Milla who was our February Winner!

Inkspirational #184

Hey everyone! Time for another fortnightly challenge that's just started over at Inkspirational.

I had the pleasure of choosing the theme this time around - Pop it Up!

Here is my card -

I stamped the puppy dogs and coloured them in with pencils. The happy birthday was stamped and die cut with the coordinating sign. I created the background using distress ink. Everything was put together within a die cut Polaroid and popped up with foam tape :)

Check out the blog for more inspiration from the designers!

I would like to enter my card into the following challenges -
Alphabet Challenge (A is for Animals), Southern Girls (Frame It), Artastic Challenge (Pets)

Thanks for popping in today :)

HLS April CAS Challenge

Hi there everyone! We have had a really change in the weather. It's gone from stinkin' hot, what is this hell? to beautiful rain and pleasant temperatures. Hopefully it lasts.. it is the 2nd month of Autumn here in QLD, Australia but that means nuffink. Summer is still here and winter doesn't hang around for very long :(

We have a new monthly CAS challenge starting right now over at Happy Little Stampers!

That's right - one layer card. It's one of my favourites! No mess, no fuss!

I cut down a piece of watercolour paper and simply folded it in half to create my cardbase. I embossed the rose and coloured it in with my Zig pens.

I went over the entire thing with a glitter pen -

Don't forget the rules for a Clean and Simple card - lot's of open space, no clutter, minimal layers, and minimal embellishments. A one layer card is simply that - no layers whatsoever - just a piece of card folded in half .

See you over at the challenge blog :)
