Inkspirational Photo Challenge

Woo Hoo! Time for a brand new challenge over at Inkspirational. This fortnight we have a photo to inspire you!

For me this was pretty much a no brainer. I wanted to create the wood panels and just stick with the colour scheme. Here is my card -

I created my wood panels using a technique by the very talented Karen Dunbrook from Snippets. The tutorial shows you how to create your own woodgrain panels. I did make a few changes to my panel as I will explain -

Karen used Distress Inks to create her woodgrain look (this is after the glue and scoring steps - check out the tutorial to see what I mean). I really wanted to use Brushos to create a more watery paint look. So, I used watercolour paper for the green panels. I smooshed it into Leaf Green brusho and then dried with my heat gun. I then smooshed it into Turquoise drying between smooshes. This gave it a really nice blend of colours. I used a Brown Zig watercolour pen to add a bit of distress. I cut up the panel into sections then used Vintage Photo distress ink around the edges. For the white panel, this was on normal cardstock and I pounced a Posh White ink pad onto the card. I smooshed it with a little Grey Brusho and distressed the edges once again with Vintage Photo ink.

This took a little time but it was really worth it!

I popped up my panels with foam tape. I was worried that my white die cut sentiment was going to get lost so I originally adhered a grey one. I decided to overlay the grey with the white which I really liked.

I hope you like this photo for inspiration as much as I do. I had a lot of fun trying to recreate these panels.

I would like to enter my card into the following challenges -

Timeout - Inspired by Words challenge
'If you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely'
(to me, when I have good thoughts I can't help but smile and smiling brings out your beauty)

(I think this card would be perfect for a bloke)

Hello Mojo!

Me again! Yep, two posts in one day.... what's going on? Well, I usually only get time to create for my DT assignments but I really love it when I get in the groove and create just for fun. I haven't been well for a few months now but hopefully things will settle down soon. Thank goodness our winter here in Queensland doesn't get down to the extreme temps our southern states do otherwise I would probably have new-moan-ya...

Ok, I was totally inspired by the mood board over at Scrapbook Boutique. My card only took minutes to make and if I hadn't added the sequins, it would be totally one layer.

Here is my card

I used distress ink through a stencil to create my background then using my MISTI, I stamped my images from the HLS Wish you were Here set.

The sequins were the finishing touch.

The challenges I would like to enter this into are

Thanks for popping today! xx

Interactive Ferris Wheel

Hi everyone. Today I have an interactive card using Chibitronic Light Circuits (they are available for purchase at Happy Little Stampers). My amazing teamie at Addicted to CAS, Barb Ghig, sent me an adorable Ferris Wheel stamp for my birthday. Well, teamie is a loose term... Barb practically runs ATCAS. I couldn't do it without her. She puts a lot of her time into the blog and I don't think she realises how grateful I am to her. Thank you Barb!!!

Here is my card

If you would like to see how to create a light up card using Chibitronics, check out my tutorial HERE. The sentiment is from the HLS Bold Birthday Sentiments (retired) and when you press it, that's when the light shines. I also used a little distress ink over my Ferris Wheel to add a little colour.

I would like to enter this into the following challenges -

Try it on Tuesday - Let it Shine (my lights shines)
Tuesday Throwdown - Black, White, and one other colour

Thanks for popping in today!

Thanks!

Hello! Just a quick post from me today. I have created a card using only a die cut and a fussy cut heart. I tend to do this often without even realising it.

I made a thanks card for all of you wonderful people! Thanks for my birthday wishes and amazing cards that I have received.

Here it is -

I stamped my heart on watercolour cardstock and embossed with silver powder. I coloured it with my Zigs then fussy cut it out. Both the heart and die cut sentiment (from STAMPlorations) have been covered with WOS.

My favourite card making style is CAS and I love EXTREMELY CAS cards too. Having the pop of colour just takes it to another level.

I used the following prodcuts from HLS

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges -

Dies R Us - Die Cut Sentiment as the Focus
Double D Challenge - Black and White with a pop of colour
Crafty Sentiments - CAS or Fussy (I obviously went with CAS)
STAMPlorations Summer CAS Card Challenge

I was even about to enter this over at Less Is More when I realised that my heart was a stamp that I fussy cut out!! Whoops, the girls would have slapped me for that one! Back to the drawing board.

Thanks for popping in today and stay safe xx

Inkspirational Sketch Challenge

Hi everyone! Time for another challenge over at Inkspirational. This fortnight we have a little difference for our photo inspiration. It's a sketch!

Here is my DT card

I still had my neon cardstock out so decided to go hot pink bright with the background and use speech bubble dies.

Here is the sketch that Shauna designed for your inspiration -

I used the Postage Stamp Dies and Mix Mash stamp set both from Happy Little Stampers.

I hope you will join us over at the challenge blog!

Let's go One Layer with Neon!

Hi everyone! Today there is a special combination of challenge blogs with a very special challenge for you. Less is More and AAA Cards are coming together for a crazy two weeks of fun.

Happy Little Stampers is sponsoring this challenge for both LIM and AAA so I was asked to be a Guest Designer for them. Woo hoo.

Now, one layer cards do NOT worry me at all and then I found out it couldn't be on white cardstock. Argghhh! I actually don't have a lot to choose from when it comes to coloured cardstock but I had an unopened packet of neon colours that were perfect for this!

Here are my cards - (you may need your sunglasses for these ones!)

Simple stamping (using my MISTI) for Card #1 and a combination of stamping and inlaid diecuts for Card #2 and Card #3. Neon cardstock is a little slick so you have to be careful when stamping that you don't smudge your work.

Here are the products I have used from Happy Little Stampers for these cards -

MISTI (Most Incredible Stamping Tool Invented) - BACKORDER

I hope you will play along at the challenges - there is a great prize to be won from Happy Little Stampers. Check out the challenge blogs for more details.

Have a great day xx

HLS July CAS Challenge

Hello! Welcome back. I hope you are all well.

Today we start our new CAS challenge over at Happy Little Stampers. We have a very easy theme for you this month -

Just remember to keep it clean and simple.

My card is very CAS AND one layer!

I used my MISTI to stamp my sentiment (HLS Everyday Sentiments) and Chevrons (HLS Mix Mash). I added a few enamel dots and then flicked a bit of black acrylic paint to give it more 'body'.

This card took me about 5 minutes to make. So easy!

Our winner for this challenge will receive a $20 coupon to spend at the shop! Check out all the details HERE.

Thanks for popping in. See you at the challenge blog!

Inkspirational is going Rural

Hi everyone, today we have a brand new challenge for you at Inkspirational!

rural
ˈrʊər(ə)l/
adjective

in, relating to, or characteristic of the countryside rather than the town.

We have a LOT of rural areas in Australia which isn't surprising as it is massive. Even though our country is huge we only have a population of around 23 million with 85% living in the more urban (coastal) parts of the county. So when we talk rural, I think of little country towns, lots of land, and farms.

Did you know that the worlds largest cattle station (ranch) can be found in South Australia and is over 6 MILLION acres. That's one large rural property!

Here is my card -

I had plenty of ideas for this theme though many of them didn't quite work out. I have to be honest and say I wasn't 100% happy with this card :(

Yeah, it's a little cute..... I'm sure it's missing something (no, I left the sentiment off on purpose).... Maybe because it is purely made out of dies?? I dunno! Constructive criticism is most welcome :)

Anyway, this was the design I had in my head but when put on paper it just didn't work out.

I'm sure you will come up with something fantastic for our challenge!! I can't wait to see your entries.

Thanks for popping in xx

HLS July Watercolour Challenge

Hello! It's the 1st of July and time for a new challenge at Happy Little Stampers. As always, our first challenge of the month is our watercolour challenge!

Create ANYTHING that is watercoloured and if you feel like playing along with our optional twist, please do so :)

Here is my card

This a classic design for me. I have created similar thanks to Sarah P who inspired me with a card she sent me.

This was very easy to create. I embossed my butterflies from the HLS Especially for You set onto watercolour paper then smooshed it into brusho colours - Turquoise, Ultramarine, and Cobalt Blue. I started with the Turquoise first and dried in between colours.

I die cut the happy from a piece of glitter foam. The sentiment is from the HLS Everyday Sentiments set.

Such an easy card to make and simple to replicate!

Here are the products I used -

Daler Rowney - Aquafine Watercolour Paper

I hope to see you playing along over at the challenge blog.

Our winner for this challenge will receive a $20 coupon to spend at the shop! Check out all the details HERE.
