CCS Challenge #37 - Sketch

Hi there everyone!

I am still the hostess over at CAS - Colours and Sketches and will be for the whole month of August. I was so happy to see so many lovely entries for the last colour combo that I had chosen. This week I have designed a sketch for you to play along with.

Firstly I would like to say hello to my friendly stalkers Trudi and Phillipa.... You know who you are!! hehehehe

Onto the sketch -

Don't forget at CC&S, you must create a CARD that includes stamping and it must be Clean and Simple.

Here is my DT card -

I started by adhering my DSP to a white panel and then used a circle die to cut out my frame. I have used a stamp from my Delightful Decorations set (SU) and co-ordinating punch.

Both the ornament and white panel have been popped up with dimensionals.

So, I hope you find the time to play along with the sketch this week.

The DT have come up with some wonderful cards to inspire you. Check out the challenge blog for more info.

Thanks so much for looking xx

Swallowtail

Hello!! I am writing my first post from Canberra. I got here safe and sound on Sunday afternoon and had a wonderful reunion with my son. I've missed him sooooo much.

I am hosting the challenges over at CAS - Colour and Sketches for the month of August. I do hope that you like my colour and sketch combinations and can't wait to see what you come up with.

So, for the first challenge of the month we have a colour combo for you that I hope you like -

We use Stampin' Up! colours as a guide but you don't have to use them, just the closest you have in your stash.

And here is my DT card -

I have finally faced my fears and used the ever so big Swallowtail stamp (SU). I have stamped the image off the paper a little and then just coloured it in with Melon Mambo and Old Olive Markers.

The base cardstock is Basic Grey (we spell it with an 'e' over here...).

The sentiment is from the Express Yourself set (SU) and inked with Basic Grey.

You may have noticed that I suffered from 'smudgy finger syndrome' when I made this card. Oh well, nevermind..... :)

So, now it is your turn to head on over to the challenge blog and check out the other inspiration from the DT.

Thanks so much for looking xx

CC&S - Sketch Week

Wow, it's that time again! How are you all today?

Firstly, Happy Birthday to my step-mother Jenny! Have a great day!!

Also, tomorrow I am driving all the way from QLD to Canberra. That's a 1,200km (745 miles) road trip. It will be the first time that I have seen my son since he moved back in January. That's over 7 months! I miss him and can't wait to see him and the rest of my family.

Ready for a new sketch over at CAS - Colours and Sketches? Here it is -

And here is my DT card -

I created the background by sponging Concord Crush and Poppy Parade (SU). I then stamped the Paper Smooches sentiment over the top. I decided to use ribbon for the side which is also Poppy Parade (SU).

I popped up the front panel to give it a bit of dimension.

Now, it's your turn! I can't wait to see what you create! Check out the challenge blog for more inspiration from the DT.

Thanks so much for looking xx

CC&S - Colour Week

Hello!! I am hoping to find you all well.

We have a lovely colour combo for you over at CAS - Colours and Sketches this week.

We have used SU colours as a reference. If you don't have them, don't panic! Just use whatever you have in your stash that is the closest.

Here is my DT card -

I have used Chocolate Chip and Crumbcake cardstock (SU). The larger panel is Very Vanilla and has been embossed with my bubblewrap folder.

The sentiment is from the 'Feeling Sentimental' set (SU).

Check out the challenge blog for more inspiration!!!

Thanks so much for looking xx

CC&S Sketch Week

Back to Thursday again!! Wow, that went quick.

We have a wonderful sketch for you to try this week over at CAS - Colours and Sketches.

I love this sketch!! It didn't take me long to figure what I was going to do, either!

Here is my DT card -

Yep, there is that Basic Black cardstock again. I love using it as a base to make all those beautiful colours just pop!

After adhering all my panels together, I popped them up on dimensionals. The DSP I have used is from SU and called Polka Dot Parade. The sentiment is from Paper Smooches. It was inked with Wisteria Wonder (SU).

I hope I have inspired you to join in. There is plenty more inspiration to be had over at CAS - Colours and Sketches from the wonderful DT team.

Thanks so much for looking xx

CC&S - Colour Week

How are we all today? Ready to get crafting?

Over at CAS - Colours and Sketches, we have a great combo of colours for you this week!

As you can see, we have used SU colours but you don't have to! Just use the closet you have in your stash.

And here is my DT card -

These stamps from the SU Patterned Occasions set are just PERFECT for CAS cards. I love them!

I'm not a coffee drinker but this stamp is adorable. This is the first time I have inked it.

I used my Retro Swirls embossing folder on half the card and added the ribbon to help add the definition. I love these colours paired with the black cardstock.

Now, it's over to YOU! What will you come up with this week? Check out the challenge blog for more inspiration from the DT.

Thanks so much for looking xx

CC&S #31 - Sketch Week

Hi and happy Thursday everyone.

It's a dreary day here today. Heaps of rain and coolish temperatures. Yuck!!

We have a new challenge starting right now over at CAS - Colours and Sketches.

And, this week we have a sketch for you to try -

And here is my DT card -

I have used my Growing Green set (SU) and coloured in the flowers with my SU markers.
The sentiment is from my Friendly Phrases set (SU).

Very CAS - just how we like it over at CC&S.
Please don't forget to use stamping on your card.

Thats it from me - check out the other DT ladies for some inspiration. They are amazing!!

Thanks for looking xx

CAS Colours and Sketches - Colour Week

Hi everyone! Looking for a fresh colour challenge this week?

We have right here for you at CC&S!

Love this colour combo, but I did struggle with what to do. Actually I always struggle with colour challenges. I'm never sure where to start! Any hints??

I did like the stamp that I chose to use for these colours.

Here is my DT card -

This cute elephant is probably my favourite from the Patterned Occaisons (SU) set.
I have used my markers directly onto the stamp to achieve the different colours.

Now, I don't have Gumball Green and Primrose Petals in my collection. So, I just use whatever is closest. Even though we use Stampin' Up colours here, you can just use whatever you have in your stash.

The DSP is from my Polka Dot Parade collection which is really getting some good use. I just love it. I have popped the panel up on dimensionals and used more of the DSP on the inside of the card.

Lot's of white space and very CAS.

That's the name of the game over at CAS - Colours and Sketches. Remember to create a CARD that is CAS and it must include stamping.

Why don't you head on over to the challenge blog and check out the rest of the team. There is heaps of inspiration for you!!!

Thanks so much for looking xx

CCS Challenge #29 - Sketch

Good evening all! I am happy to join you again with my DT inspiration for the latest challenge over at CAS - Colours and Sketches.

This week is sketch week -

I love this sketch. I was able to 'whip' up something very quickly for this challenge. That's the true meaning of CAS, lol!!

Here is my very literal take on the sketch -

I have used Basic Grey cardstock (SU) for my base. Using some scraps from my Polka Dot Parade DSP (SU), I have created the 'crossover' on the card. Using more scraps - this time with my Flirtatious DSP and Whisper White cardstock (SU), I punched out some flowers using my Blossom Punch (SU). I used the top of my glue stick (very technical stuff here!) to bend the flowers over and give them a little more dimension.

The sentiment is inked with Basic Grey and the stamp is from Paper Smooches.

Head on over and check out the beautiful contributions from our DT!!

Thanks so much for looking xx

KYLIE'S AUSTRALIAN FACTS ROUND 3

More than 80 percent of Australians live within 100 kilometres of the coast making Australia one of the world's most urbanised coastal dwelling populations (ahhh, this is the life)

Australia was the second country in the world to give women the right to vote in 1902 (yay)

Approximately 1.35 trillion bottles of wine are produced by Australia (I thought most of you would like this!)

The largest cattle station in the world is Anna Creek Station in South Australia at over 34,000 square kilometres. It is even larger than Belgium. (Holy Cow!!)

The Trans-Australian Railway crosses the Nullarbor Plain of Australia from Port Augusta in South Australia to Kalgoorlie in Western Australia. It includes the world's longest stretch of dead-straight railway track - 478 km's (297 miles) in length (now that's long!!)

CCS - Challenge #28 - Colour

Good evening everyone! Hope you are all well :)

Today marks the start of a brand new challenge over at CAS - Colours and Sketches.

This week is a colour challenge -

(Please just use the closest colours that you have in your stash)

Today I have grabbed one of my all time favourite stamp sets - Apothecary Art (SU).

Here is my DT card -

I have used Basic Black for my base. I felt this would really bring out the beautiful colours.
I used my Garden Green and Perfect Plum markers straight onto the stamp. The sentiment was inked with Rich Razzleberry.

I love stamps that have co-ordinating dies.

I hope I have inspired you to join in over at our challenge this week. The other ladies on the DT certainly will if I can't so check them out!

Thanks so much for looking xx

CCS Challenge #25 - Sketch

Hi everyone! Are you ready for a new challenge over at CAS Colours and Sketches?

This week is a sketch challenge -

Please don't forget that this is a card only challenge and you must use stamping.

Here is my DT card -

My photography skills have let me down again. I have used the Basic Grey and Daffodil Delight combo again (Polka Dot Parade DSP - SU!).

I have stamped onto the white panel with Basic Grey using my stamps from Inspired by Stamping. I have just purchased one of their label stamp sets and co-ordinating dies and can't wait to use them.

The polka dot panel has been popped up on dimensionals.

Easy Peasy!

I hope you will be able to join us this week!!!

Thanks so much for looking xx

CC&S - Colours

Hi everyone and yep, second post for me today.

Firstly, I would just like to mention that my friend and fellow team mate at CAS Colour and Sketches, Sandie, is enjoying her birthday today! Please don't forget to pop by her blog and give her your wishes.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SANDIE!!!!

Now, onto my DT card for the current challenge at CAS Colour and Sketches.

Well, here are the colours first :)

We have used Stampin' Up colours but you may use the closest colours that you have in your stash.

I used my Lovely as a Tree set (SU) which I have BARELY used and must make amends.
I simply used my Stampin' Write markers directly onto the stamps. I don't have Calypso Coral so I substituted it with Tangerine Tango.  I feel that Sympathy cards should be as Clean and Simple as can be - much more powerful in my opinion.

I hope you join us over at CAS Colours and Sketches. Don't forget your card must be clean and simple and you must use stamping.

Thanks so much for looking xx

CAS - Colours and Sketches Challenge #23

Hi everyone and welcome to another challenge over at CAS - Colours and Sketches.

This week is a colour challenge -

It is a great combination!! You don't have to use Stampin' Up colours, just the closest colours that you have in your stash.

Here is my DT card -

I have used Crumb cake and Whisper White cardstock.

Using my markers directly on the stamp, I have inked the image. I don't have Midnight Muse so I had to settle for Pacific Point.

I have also popped it all up using dimensionals.

We hope that you will join us over at the challenge where you can also check out the wonderful inspiration by the rest of the Design Team.

Thanks so much for looking xx

Lest we Forget

Hi everyone, how are you?

We have a brand new sketch challenge for you at CAS - Colours and Sketches. As soon as I saw this sketch I knew exactly what I wanted to do. But first, a little about today in Australia.

Today is ANZAC day. Anzac stands for Australia & New Zealand Army Corps.

Originally, on the 25th April every year we honoured the men and woman who fought at Gallipoli during World War I.

These days we commemorate ALL those who have served and died in military operations for their country. Anzac Day marks the anniversary of the first campaign that led to major casualties for Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War.

Anzac Day is a national public holiday and is considered by many Australians to be one of the most solemn days of the year. Marches by veterans from all past wars, as well as current serving members of the Australian Defence Force and Reserves, with allied veterans as well as the Australian Defence Force Cadets and Australian Air League and supported by members of Scouts Australia, Guides Australia, and other uniformed service groups, are held in cities and towns nationwide. The Anzac Day March from each state capital is televised live with commentary. These events are generally followed by social gatherings of veterans, hosted either in a public house or in an RSL club, often including a traditional Australian gambling game called two-up, which was an extremely popular pastime with ANZAC soldiers. The importance of this tradition is demonstrated by the fact that though most Australian states have laws forbidding gambling outside of designated licensed venues, on Anzac Day it is legal to play "two-up".

Here is the sketch that we have for you to follow -

To me, this was the perfect sketch for a card that I had in mind for a very good friend of mine who recently lost her nephew who was serving Australia in Afghanistan. It is such a sad time. His wife gave birth to their first child not long after his death.

So, here is my card that I have made -

(Note: For our challenge at CAS - Colours and Sketches you must use a stamp on your card. After I have done everything, I realised that I haven't! I hope Jacqueline will forgive me this time. This card does mean quite a lot to me so I hope you will all forgive me too)

Everywhere you go, there are stalls where you can buy commemorative pins, poppies etc. I found this pin that is especially for the diggers (our soldiers) who either fought or died in Afghanistan.

I made my own poppy using my ornament punch (just snipped off the top), crushed up the paper and secured everything with a brad. I decided to add the commemorative pin to the front of the card.

I would also like to add the Ode of Rememberance -

They went with songs to the battle, they were young.
Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

LEST WE FORGET

CC&S - Sketch week

Hi everyone! We have a wonderful, clean and simple sketch for you to try over at CAS - Colours and Sketches.

Here is my DT card -

I have simply inked my Delicate Doilies and Mixed Bunch sets with Wisteria Wonder and stamped all over a square piece of Whisper White cardstock. Then I cut that piece into three sections and used Basic Black cardstock as a base. The sentiment is from my Petite Pairs set and inked with Concord Crush then die cut with a circle die and place in the middle. Very simple!!

I hope that you join us over at CAS - Colours and Sketches

CC&S - Colour Challenge

Hi there and welcome!

Today I have my DT card to share with you for the latest challenge over at CAS - Colours and Sketches.

We have a colour challenge for you to play along with this week -

We have used Stampin' Up colours to inspire you, but all you have to do is use the colours you have in your stash that are the closest to ours. For example, I don't have Raspberry Ripple in my collection so I substituted it for Rich Razzleberry.

Here is my DT card -

I've just realised this is a little blurry, sorry.

I decided that I wanted to create another card using my Partial Die Cutting technique that I first learnt when I subscribed to Online Card Classes.

If you are interested in how to create this card, I have a tutorial that includes a link for you to add your creations so we can all see them. Check it out by clicking the link below - it really is sooo easy!

So, using this technique, I tried a few different dies and stamps but I just wasn't happy with the end result. I need to keep working on it. I ended up going back to my 'old faithful' Hero Arts butterfly stamps and matching dies. Using the colours as inspiration, I have simply coloured the butterflies and then outlined them with a cool grey marker.

The sentiment is from Inspired by Stamping - isn't just beautiful??

Now it is time to head on over the the challenge blog and check out what the rest of the DT have come up with for your inspiration.

Edited to add challenges I would like to enter -
As this was a scheduled post, I forgot to add some challenges that I knew I would like to join. Then, last night we had a wicked storm and I had trouble with the internet. I couldn't do it from my phone, blah blah.....

Anyhoo - I would love to add this card into the following challenges -

Make My Monday - One Layer CAS Card
OLW - Challenge 134 is to use threes (I have used three colours)
Casology - Up (I feel my butterflies are flying UP off the page)
The Outlawz - CAS - Anything Goes

CC&S - Challenge #18 - Sketch

Hi there, I hope you are all well. This will be a very short post ;)

Over at CAS - Colours and Sketches we have a great sketch for you to try.

Pretty cool? Here is my DT card -

Simply made, I have used my scalloped circle and circle dies to reflect the sketch. I have used stamps from my Itty Bitty set and Mixed Bunch set. The sentiment is from Paper Smooches.

I have scored lines above and below the flowers.

Pop on over to the challenge blog and give this sketch a go and check out the rest of the DT.

CC&S - Sketch Week

Hi there everyone and welcome to my newest followers!

At CAS - Colours and Sketches we have a wonderful sketch for you to play along with -

Here is my DT card -

I played around with this sketch for a while and couldn't really decide on what to do with my two white panels. I then had an idea (and I don't even know where it came from) to use vellum. I have never used it before so I don't even know why it popped into my head.

Once I had decided to grab some vellum, I knew the stamp that I wanted to use. This gorgeous image is from a new set called 'Cherish' which is from Inspired by Stamping. I also wanted to keep the monochrome design so I inked the stamp with Memento Tuxedo Black and adhered the vellum with a little glue. I actually 'googled' how to attach the vellum before I started because I was worried about the adhesive showing through. Luckily there were good reports about the Tombow Liquid Glue so I gave that a go. It worked a treat!

Now, it's your turn to try out this sketch. Don't forget that you must created a card using the sketch provided and you must include stamping.

Check out the other inspiration from the DT - you will love it!

Thanks so much for looking xx

CC&S - Colour Challenge

Hi there! Over at CAS - Colours and Sketches we have a colour challenge for you and it is sooo nice!

Here is my DT card -

I used my Delicate Doilies set inked in Certainly Celery to create the background DP. A simple lacy circle mounted on dimensionals with a sentiment (from Friendly Phrases) stamped in Rich Razzleberry.

So, don't forget that to enter this challenge, you must create a CARD using the colour inspiration provided and keep it CAS.

I can't wait to see you over there!

CAS - Colours and Sketches Challenge #13

Hi there! We have a colour challenge for you this week at CAS - Colours and Sketches!

Don't forget that you don't have to use Stampin' Up colours - just the closet colours in your stash that you can find. Also, make sure that your card incorporates a stamp.

I have used Tangerine Tango and Sahara Sand cardstock and then ribbon for Summer Starfruit.

Here is my DT card for this challenge -

I have embossed the top panel with only half of my Vintage Wallpaper folder and then popped up with foam pads.

I have made the flower using a running thread through the edge of the ribbon leaving the ends loose. Once finished, I just drew the edges of the ribbon together and shaped my flower. I have used an antique brad in the middle. Not TOO shabby for someone who struggles just to thread the needle lol.

My sentiment is a new set I have from Paper Smooches and has been popped up on dimensionals.

I hope to see you join in the fun this week!

Thanks for looking! xx
