ATSM Challenge # 143 - HOLIDAY

Hello everyone! I hope today finds you well.

Today is the start of a new challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More. The theme for this week is

HOLIDAY

I took a 'little' liberty with our theme this week. I created a Mothers Day card. While it isn't a celebrated National holiday per say, I think that on Mothers Day we should be having a holiday from all things domestic!! No laundry, no washing up, no vacuuming (the list goes on!).

Here is my DT card -

I started with a piece of watercolour paper and used texture paste over a stencil (sent to me by my buddy Loll).

When the texture paste was dry, I embossed the sentiment.

Next I sprinkled some brushos over the panel and sprayed it with water. Once it was dry, I used a baby wipe just to wipe over the textured parts.

A few little butterflies finished it off.

Our wonderful sponsor for this challenge is

and our Top Addict will win 7 digis!

I would like to enter my card into the following challenges -

613 Avenue Create - Anything Goes with the option of Feminine
Fashionable Stamping Challenges - Things with Wings
Craftin Desert Divas - Mothers Day
Incy Wincy Designs - Mums the Word

Now, I am hoping that my mum doesn't read this post before Sunday ;) because I am going to show you a little gift that I have sewn for her.

It is getting quite cold down where my mum lives so I thought a couple of nice heat packs would be just what she needs.

I made two heat packs. One larger one for her lap or feet when she goes to bed. I also made a smaller one for her neck.

The little poem on the tag I found on pinterest.

I would like to enter my heat pack into the

Before I go, I would like to remind you all of the DT CALLS going on over at Happy Little Stampers

Addicted to Stamps - Challenge #99

Hellooooooo! How are you all? I hope you are well wherever you are in the world.

We are well into winter here in Australia and things are cooling down particularly in the states further south of me. Here in Queensland, it isn't too bad. The temperatures are still very civilized but we have very cool and gusty winds at the moment which makes it feel a lot cooler than it actually is. Still, barefeet and t-shirts so I can't complain :)

Onto our new challenge over at Addicted to Stamps and More. This week we have our

CLEAN AND SIMPLE

challenge. You can create anything you like but remember to keep it CAS.

Here is my DT card -

This little cutie is a freebie from Christine over at Create A Smile. I have coloured him in with my Spectrum Noir's, cut him out and popped him up over a stamp from the Gorgeous Grunge (SU) set. The sentiment is from Paper Smooches. The little stars are from my stash.

I think he looks a little like a superhero :)

We have a fabulous sponsor and prizes this week

who are offering 3 digis from their store for our winner!

I would also like to enter this into the following challenges

I wanted to share with you the wonderful new stamps available at STAMPlorations.

Today I have played with the Patchwork Frenzy and the Retro Mod Shapes

I really loved the look of the shapes available so I just started randomly stamping!

I love the masculine look I have created. There are even some 'accidental splats' that I like too! I like the fact that this card could be used for anything - Birthday, Just saying hi etc. Anything really.

ATSM #74 - Clean and Simple

Hi there everyone! Hope you are enjoying your week so far.

A brand new challenge has just started over at ATSM and this week we are looking for your Clean and Simple (CAS) projects.

We also have a wonderful sponsor for you and you have to be in it to win it!

Our Top Addict will have the choice of 5 images from their store!

Here are my DT cards -

My 1st one has used a sponsor image called 'Candy Canes'.

I have printed the candy canes onto blender paper and then coloured with my Spectrum's. Then they were cut out and popped up with dimensionals. I'm not sure if you can see, but I have paper pierced around the edge of the white panel. The sentiment is from my Petite Pairs set (SU).

I'm going to enter this card into the following challenges -

52 CC Throwdown - Pick a previous theme

CASology

Spectrum Noir - Food (yummy candy canes!!)

Here is my 2nd card

Here I have used the Natural Composition Paper from SU which was given to me by the ever so generous Phillipa when I was down in Canberra.  It's so lovely with the embossing already on the paper. I've just added some layers of lace and ribbon and finished off with a hemp twine bow and Antique brad. I made this card for one of my lovely ladies who attends my card classes. She loved it!

So there you go - two very different cards but kept very CAS.

I hope I have inspired you to take part in our challenge.

Christmas Tree with Bling

Hi there everyone. Happy Sunday!

Just a quick post from me today to share with you a card that we will make on Thursday's card making class.

I went with very non-traditional colours as one of the ladies really likes pink so I am hoping she will love this card. Keeping it very CAS also allows the pink to dominate the card but not overpower it.

Here is my card -

I have seen a few of these folded Christmas Trees on Pinterest and thought I would give it a go. They are very easy to make. You start by cutting out a circle, cut it in half and then fold it to create the tree shape.

The DSP I have used on my card is retired but I still like it! The sentiment was inked with Rose Red and is from my Express Yourself set.

I die cut the star (out of silver glimmer paper) and banner using the dies that are included with the new Thinlits Circle Card dies. I didn't have any 'Christmas' sentiments that would fit into this banner so I adapted. I think 'Celebrate' is most appropriate.

The finishing touch was stickles on the tree.

Spring Window

Hi there everyone. This is my second post for today.

I made a card yesterday that took me quite some time so by the time I had finished it was too dark to photograph. So, I finished up this morning and wanted to share with you.

I saw the photo inspiration over at the House of Cards and thought it was so lovely!

http://blogs.mydevstaging.com/blogs/centsational-style/files/2012/09/autumn-branch-centerpiece-bhg.jpg

I decided to take the colours and flowers as my inspiration. I know that computer monitors can trick you with colours so I hope I have come close to the mark.

From the photo I decided to use

Baked Brown Sugar (the hessian bag), Strawberry Slush (the flowers), Crisp Cantaloupe (flowers) and Pistachio Pudding (leaves) as my main colour inspiration.

Also at 613 Avenue Create I have used Column 2 (die cut, paper punch, embossing) for this card

Here is what I have come up with -

I have been making these little flowers over the past couple of days. I have another project that is coming up in next weeks Addicted to Stamps and More Challenge where I have used them too. They are really simple to make.

I have used my Itty Bitty punch to puch the flowers in Strawberry Slush and Crisp Cantaloupe. I then lay them on my paper piercing mat and use my stylus to push down in the centre. This gives them an instant flower shape. Then I added pearls to the centre. I didn't have a branch die to use so I drew a branch myself onto white cardstock and cut it out. Now I have covered it with leaves and flowers that it can't be seen too well, lol. I used my Leafy Vine die and cut it into pieces for the foliage.

With the window die, I have cut it out 3 times and glued it together to give it more oomph and then I covered the whole thing in versamark ink and embossed with white powder. It gives it that painted look that windows and doors should have. You can't tell in the photo but it is nice and glossy.

Tip for Heat Embossing - I was sick of trying not to burn my fingers while heat embossing. I have cut a flap off a cardboard box and covered it in foil. I then attach what I am heating with a peg and just hold the cardboard panel while I do it. With this window die, I just placed it on the foil without using the peg and embossed.

I popped the window up with dimensionals and used some DSP and lace for the inside.

This was very fiddly and time consuming... not something I am used to. I have to say, though, it is so much fun making your own little flowers and scenes. I guess I will be trying these more often!

Hope you like, and thanks so much for looking xx

Frostyville Christmas Card

Good morning everyone! I hope everyone is well.

When I was down in Canberra it was great to catch up with my crafty friends. Mum and I always exchange bits and pieces from our stashes. It's a great way to try out different papers, inks and embellishments.

I had afternoon tea with Phillipa and Trudi right at the end of my stay in Canberra. Phillipa and I did the same thing - Phillipa was lovely enough to give me some cardstock and I had some dies that Phillipa liked, so we spent some time cutting them out so she could have some. Now, Trudi isn't a 'crafty' person and was very patient with us while we did all this. Yay, Trudi!! lol.

Yesterday I received a package in the mail. Phillipa had put together lots of die cuts for me. It was such a lovely surprise and of course I had to start playing with them.

Here is a card that I have made with the Frostyville Border die that was in my package.

With the package of dies that Phillipa sent me was a printout of a card that used this particular die and a die that I already own - Pine Tree Border. You can see the original card HERE. It was wonderful inspiration.

Once I had cut the Pine Tree Border, I embossed it with my Perfect Polka Dots folder to give the effect of snow.

The sentiment has been stamped with Versamark and embossed with silver embossing powder.

I would love to enter this card into the following challenges.

This Pine Tree Border reminds me of the Christmas Trees that would be cut so you could have a real tree.

I sorted through all my Christmas cards yesterday and still have so many to make! I had better get my skates on.

Very excited!!

Hi everyone!! I was finally able to sit down with mum and do a bit of cardmaking yesterday. We are preparing something each for the upcoming challenge at ATSM on Wednesday morning. I can't wait to share with you what mum comes up with.

The reason for my post today is to share a card with you that I have made for my god daughter's upcoming birthday and it is something I have coloured using Spectrum Noir pens.

Speaking of Spectrum Noir.... my stash of pens is building nicely. I have some awesome news too. Over on the Spectrum Noir blog, you have the opportunity to become a certified colourist using their pens. I decided to watch their tutorials and send off my accreditation test. Guess what? I passed! Notice the blinkie on the top right hand side of my blog? That's showing you that I am now certified!! Yay! I wasn't expecting to pass the test on the first try but the wonderful Jennie Black sent me an email letting me know I had passed - I was over the moon!

So, onto my card -

I have used a digital stamp from Tiddly Inks called "Wryn Spring Bling". I have printed her onto blender paper.

I used a couple of tutorials for this image. Her hair was done using a tutorial by Lis M and the background was done using a tutorial by Dilyana Kupenska.

There is just a wealth of information on this site and especially if you are just starting out using the Spectrum Noir pens.

Here are the colours I have used on this image -

Background - TB1, TB2, TB3, BT4. Blender
Dress - TB1, TB2, TB3
Flowers - PP1, PP2, PP3, PP5
Face - FS1, FS3, FS4, FS9, CR3 (blush)
Hair and shoe - GB2, GB8, GB10, EB5

The papers are all from Stampin Up. The sentiment is from the Sketched Birthday set and cut out using my Itty Bitty dies (SU).

The ribbon I pinched from mum's stash.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges -

Tuesday Throwdown - Birthday Party
Polka Doodles - Birthday Girl
The Ribbon Girls - Birthday Card
613 Avenue Create - AG with twist to use a sentiment

That's all for me today. I will see you back here on Wednesday. Take care!
